5) This question asks us to find the displacement of an object after moving in a complete circle of radius R.

Where x is position, and R is radius

If we draw this situation out, we might come up with something like the drawing above. The circumference of this circle is 2πR. The particle travels through this distance 2πR; however, this is not our answer.


We want to find the displacement, not the distance. For the displacement, we are only concerned with the distance between the starting and ending position.


The particle starts and ends in the same position, so the distance between those points is 0. This means our displacement is 0.
