10) This question asks us to identify, which way we can increase the speed of a transverse periodic wave produced on a string.

Where v is velocity, f is frequency, λ is wavelength, T is tension, μ is linear density, m is mass of string, and ℓ is length of string

In the blue equation, however, a change in frequency will cause a change in wavelength rather than a change in velocity. In order to change the velocity of the wave, we need to change the medium through which it propagates.


The red equation shows us that by increasing tension(T) or decreasing linear density(μ) we can increase the velocity of the wave. Choice E explains that increasing tension would increase the velocity, so this answer is correct.
