Princeton Review 16th Edition PT1 Q34

34) This question requires a basic understanding of harmonics and standing waves. Harmonics describes the displacement produced by a wave. Usually, the situation is a wave in a pipe that is closed/open at the ends, or a wave on a string that is fixed/not fixed at the ends.

This image includes my general overview of how the harmonics look and the important formulas to remember. We need to compare the sixth harmonic to the third harmonic. So we can simply plug it into our formula and divide the two.

Answer: C
